Tonight’s song “Out of Time” was originally uploaded last night but included two acoustic guitar tracks with lead melodies. This version, I muted the second lead and just left the original acoustic track I improvised first.

Tonight’s song is one from my audio archive. It was written and recorded in 1999.

“Deep Space” 07-01-10

Tonight’s song is titled “Deep Space” and was inspired by playing my MIDI guitar into my Korg Triton Extreme and then layering a track in Omnisphere.
This ambient tracks hardly reflects the stressful day I’ve had.
Maybe this is why I don’t feel stressed now. That’s the great part of songwriting – it really does change my mood if I’m feeling pressure.

“Elevation” 06-05-10

I’ve had an “off” day mentally. I’m just spent from not getting much sleep after rehearsal, writing and uploading a new song after 1am and waking up early from a major thunderstorm.
Funny that today’s new song “Elevation”is a result of my current frame of mind. I’ve spent hours today writing – mostly working on a metal song for the band. The great part of my life now that I’m composing so much music every day that this song just fell into place. I feel strange taking credit for it because it’s just an improvisation and it really seemed to just write itself.
This is a great song for relaxation, sleep, massage and spa music, film, having a snack. It’s very emotional and for me, it helped me relax while I wrote it. Hope it does the same for you as you listen.

“Asleep Through Midnight” 06-03-10

Tonight’s song “Asleep Through Midnight” is once again – an acoustic guitar improvisation with the Omniphere beast track that was also improvised in one take with no editing.
I love to just sit down and write music. Whatever comes to mind. I must admit that my own opinion of myself is that I dread the thought of uploading some of the music I’ve uploaded this year. I can be ultra-critical of myself as a musician (and person for that matter) and because the majority of music I share is just recording whatever happens when I picked up the guitar, sit behind the keyboard or microphone and just capture what comes out.

For years I had trouble falling asleep. If I woke up during the night, I had trouble falling back to sleep. If I had to use the bathroom or Michelle came to bed late and woke me up, I would more often than not just lay there looking at the ceiling…my mind racing along as if it were in the middle of the day.
Towards the end of 2009, I started listening to audio seminars while I slept. I did this for a few months but I what I really enjoyed was listening to music all night. I would change it up – sometimes playing music and other nights listening to audio books, seminars, and training/tutorials.
Then, starting January 1, 2010, I started writing, recording and uploading a new song nearly every day. I would fill up my iPod with my songs and song ideas.
This got me thinking about recording music specifically designed for sleeping. Now for the very first time, I’m sharing “Interval 01″ – a 15-minute ambient track written and recorded to help people fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer. I call it Dream Sleep.

I got home just before midnight so tonight’s song is really yesterday’s song uploaded after midnight. Hey, it’s EST here so it’s still May 21st in most of the country!
Tonight’s song, titled Orbit, is an improvisation using Spectrasonics Omnisphere and Atmosphere.
It’s best to listen to Orbit with headphones on.

“Resting Place” 05-19-10

Tonight’s song, titled “Resting Place”, was inspired by a major chord progression using Prosonic Studio’s Arpeggios. They just released a beta version of a MIDI browser that saves so much time in searching out MIDI files on your computer.
I started out with a progression and built the song around it including acoustic lead guitar, pads and strings.
The past few days I’ve been thinking a lot about life and how we can be here one minute and in an instant, be gone. I’m trying to make the most out of each day and certainly writing new music is a big part of that.

Tonight’s song is called “Strength” and features an ambient texture soundtrack that was written and recorded in one take using my Korg Triton Extreme.
I improvised both acoustic guitar tracks but had to take many takes on this one. I think the end result was worth the extra effort.
