Tonight’s song “Out of Time” was originally uploaded last night but included two acoustic guitar tracks with lead melodies. This version, I muted the second lead and just left the original acoustic track I improvised first.

Hope you like it!

“It’s Over” 07-07-10

Posted by: Scott Quillin | Comments (1)

Tonight’s song “It’s Over” features the incredible Spectrasonics Omnisphere virtual synth. This was captured in one take using my Brian Moore iGuitar (MIDI).

It’s a sad song that reflects on the ending of a long journey that could be personal, relational, professional, etc. The song for me reflects an awareness or awakening of sorts to many things far to complex to articulate with words. Maybe that’s why I write music instead?

“We Let It End” 07-04-10

Posted by: Scott Quillin | Comments (0)

What a 4th of July celebration today! We had a blast filming the fireworks at Johnson’s Pond in Coventry Rhode Island. Video will be posted in a couple days!

Tonight’s song “We Let It End” is a remake/rewrite of a song from a band I had the pleasure of being in from the late 80’s to the early 90’s called Enforcer. The song was titled “Never Let It End”.

This is an improvisation that I wrote early this morning as I reflected on a reunion we had last night up in beautiful Bristol Rhode Island. It was nearly 20 years since we last saw each other. They were much more than just a band. We were a family.

This song is dedicated to everyone that helped make that period of my life, one of the best times.

Tonight’s song “What Did You Say” is an instrumental version of a song I wrote in 2008. It has really cool lyrics and vocals but this version is pretty cool.

Let me know what you think.

“My Tribute To You” 06-20-10

Posted by: Scott Quillin | Comments (0)

Tonight’s song is an instrumental version of a song I wrote in 1993 as I thought about my dad who had recently passed away. Because today is Father’s Day, I’ve been thinking about him a lot.

I really wanted to sing this song but I’ve decided for now to just upload the instrumental version with the lyrics.

My Tribute To You
(c) 1993 Scott Quillin Music

Oh Father
Do you hear these words
Are you with me
Now that you’re gone

Mother may I ask this question
For I thirst
For what I need to know

Did he know that I needed him more than I ever said
Did he know that I loved him more than I ever said

God it’s hard to believe
That I’ll never see you again
Only in my memories
Or ’till my days come to an end

And I can’t seem to get it through my head
You’re so close to me
Even closer than before
But farther than I want it to be

Oh, why
Life is so hard
When I think of you

Did you know that I needed you more than I ever said
Did you know that I loved you more than I ever said

And I want you to know
How much I love you
How much I care

I’ll hold on to the good times
Forget the bad
No sense holding on

I gotta move on with my life
But it’s hard
So hard, so hard

Did you know that I needed you more than I ever said
Did you know that I loved you more than I ever said

Well, dad…it’s been a lot of years since you left and I miss you.

Rest in peace.

Your son,

“Struggle” 06-15-10

Posted by: Scott Quillin | Comments (0)

Tonight’s song “Struggle” is a slow acoustic song with back-to-back improvisations with only a few edits during the recording process.

For those that play guitar, I used a capo on the 6th fret.

Sometimes a song just sounds exactly how I’m feeling and Struggle definately does.

We all go through times where everything seems to be a struggle. Hopefully this song hits the spot.

“Butterfly” 06-13-10

Posted by: Scott Quillin | Comments (4)

I recently mentioned that just because I was writing songs with rock guitars, drums and bass did not mean I was finished writing relaxation music. Sometimes taking a break and composing music in other styles helps reset or recalibrate myself musically and tonight’s song is proof that I’m writing from a different perspective and expression than I’ve done before.

By no means am I fooled into thinking everything I upload is top quality. Because most of my music that I share is 100% improvisation with very little post-production editing (if any at all) or retakes, I like you am left with what the song is and how it came out.

I recently reconnected with an old friend, Don, through Facebook. I hadn’t seen him since I was 19. We were great friends in my mid-teen years. Funny thing is, I used to “jam” for hours and my friends would stop by and say “hello” and I would always be jamming and recording – but then it was on a cheap “boom box” cassette deck. All these years later, I’m still jamming but I don’t have to record to cassette anymore!

I hope you enjoy this song. This is 100% improvisation captured as it happened. I had to redo the lead melody acoustic guitar track because of mistakes but I even left a few mistakes. I wonder if anyone notices them?

Thank you again for listening to this epic, uplifting acoustic guitar duet with myself.

“Elevation” 06-05-10

Posted by: Scott Quillin | Comments (0)

I’ve had an “off” day mentally. I’m just spent from not getting much sleep after rehearsal, writing and uploading a new song after 1am and waking up early from a major thunderstorm.

Funny that today’s new song “Elevation”is a result of my current frame of mind. I’ve spent hours today writing – mostly working on a metal song for the band. The great part of my life now that I’m composing so much music every day that this song just fell into place. I feel strange taking credit for it because it’s just an improvisation and it really seemed to just write itself.

This is a great song for relaxation, sleep, massage and spa music, film, having a snack. It’s very emotional and for me, it helped me relax while I wrote it. Hope it does the same for you as you listen.

Please leave a comment here if you like it.

Thanks for listening!

“Strands” 06-04-10

Posted by: Scott Quillin | Comments (2)

I make an attempt to upload a new piece of music every day – mostly improvisations unedited and untweaked. It’s after 1am so it’s not today anymore but I’m going to upload it as if it is still June 4,2010.

Tonight’s song, tited “Strands”, is three acoustic guitar improvisations written and recorded back-to-back-to-back. I had to redo some parts because I’m emotionally and physically drained from rehearsal tonight (and it’s the farthest thing from light music). My goal is not to “direct” the song as I’m improvising. I don’t want to try and guide where I think it should go and allow the song to flow.

This is a 60-second version but tomorrow (today) I will see if something comes to mind.

Thanks for listening -
