“5:30 Orch” 07-06-10

Tonight’s song “5:30 Orch” was written and recorded in 1998 at 5:30 AM right after a dream. This song is a close rendition to what I heard in my dream right before I woke up.

Although there are many mistakes in this track, I wanted to upload it anyway. This heavy orchestral track was an improvisation.

“Starting Over” 06-29-10

Tonight’s song is called “Starting Over” – a free music style, up-tempo, up-beat acoustic guitar ad. I think the commercial viability of this music is there. The 60-second music bed can be used in a number of video and film projects.

The chord progressions and transitions are sharp but the tuning is not perfect. Hey, it’s another back-to-back-to-back improvisations.

“Middle Eastern Dance Utopia” 06-26-10

Tonight’s song “Middle Eastern Dance Utopia” was inspired by a belly dancing event that I was hired to film last night. I really relate to the music because so much of the style is based on the harmonic minor scale which I’m quite familiar with because of heavy metal guitar.

This acoustic song takes the more traditional middle eastern style and flips it upside down while hopefully maintaining some relevance to the style itself.

“Elevation” 06-05-10

I’ve had an “off” day mentally. I’m just spent from not getting much sleep after rehearsal, writing and uploading a new song after 1am and waking up early from a major thunderstorm.

Funny that today’s new song “Elevation”is a result of my current frame of mind. I’ve spent hours today writing – mostly working on a metal song for the band. The great part of my life now that I’m composing so much music every day that this song just fell into place. I feel strange taking credit for it because it’s just an improvisation and it really seemed to just write itself.

This is a great song for relaxation, sleep, massage and spa music, film, having a snack. It’s very emotional and for me, it helped me relax while I wrote it. Hope it does the same for you as you listen.

“Strands” 06-04-10

I make an attempt to upload a new piece of music every day – mostly improvisations unedited and untweaked. It’s after 1am so it’s not today anymore but I’m going to upload it as if it is still June 4,2010.

Tonight’s song, tited “Strands”, is three acoustic guitar improvisations written and recorded back-to-back-to-back. I had to redo some parts because I’m emotionally and physically drained from rehearsal tonight (and it’s the farthest thing from light music). My goal is not to “direct” the song as I’m improvising. I don’t want to try and guide where I think it should go and allow the song to flow.

This is a 60-second version but tomorrow (today) I will see if something comes to mind.
